The project aims on the development of a process chain for the fabrication of patient-specific cranial implants by means of additive manufacturing, with which cranial implants made of PEEK/PEKK can be manufactured individually for each patient (Fig.1). Cranio plasty is routinely performed in neurosurgery.Patient-specific implants are used to cover the cranial bone defect. Artificial material is very often used instead of the original bone. The main reasons for this surgical procedure are tumor removals or decompressive craniectomies.
